Seneca village

Today Michele's class went on a class trip to Central Park! For a nice relaxing walk in the park? No! To learn about the not so famous Seneca Village. It was a village for freed blacks, Irish and German immigrants, a nice integrated mix that wanted to get a way from the busy and crowded down town Manhattan. So those people made there own village called Seneca Village. I think that this field trip was very informational. The only part why they don't live there any more is because the other people who lived on lower Manhattan wanted a nice park exactly where Seneca Village was. So this case went to the Supreme Court. And the poor Seneca Village got razed, because they lost the trial. And, this is how we got our Central Park...

yeah i remember this summer i was at camp and they took us there. it was fun!!!
